I’ve fallen in love with Mikimono pearls. I’ve always liked pearls, mostly because of my mermaid obsession (they’re my birthstone too, ironically) but in my opinion they’re even prettier than diamonds.
I went to a Diamond Celler with my mom today because she had to get a ring she bought for me downsized, and my eye caught the Mikimoto section… so I wandered over there and drooled over all of the pearl jewelry. Seriously— those pearls were some of the most BEAUTIFUL things I have ever seen.
The jeweler caught me eyeing them, and after noticing how many diamonds my mother was wearing he began to take a particular interest in us. He explained the magic on the Mikimoto pearl to me AND EVEN LET ME TRY ON A PEARL NECKLACE.
IT WAS TOO BEAUTIFUL FOR MY NECK. I ABOUT HAD A HEART ATTACK.
He also showed me a pair of pearl earrings, which only reminded me of how my ears aren’t pierced… but after talking to my mom, I think I’m going to get that done here soon. I never did because when my sister got hers pierced, she developed inflamed scar tissue and had to get surgery to get the swelling down :( and I was really scared that the same thing would happen to me. Plus, I’m kind of a huge baby when it comes to needles… like, a lot.
But my dad told me that he could take me to his office and inject my earlobes with numbing medicine before I get them pierced (which would probably be less painful than getting a needle shoved THROUGH them rather than in them)… so I decided that I’m going to get my ears pierced on Monday. Finally.
18 years late, but if I get to wear a pair of drop-dead gorgeous Mikimoto pearls on my not-worthy earlobes, it will be SO worth it.
