Day 04 - Your views on religion.
This one is much easier to sum up. Mostly because I am still figuring it out…
Jesus is my savior, God is the creator of Heaven and Earth, and His love lives in all of us. I believe in a God that loves all of humanity regardless of what they believe or who they are, who built this world and made each and every one of us with a plan, and a God that forgives and heals. That being said, I am tolerant of people with all different beliefs and I am open to the ideas that all religions present. I think that God is truly too big to fit into just one religion, and that the similarities that exist between all of the major religions in the world are there for a reason. I don’t go to church but I pray often and sleep under a rosary every night (I had one put up in my dorm room)- I also talk to God almost daily, casually as if He were in the room with me. And in a way, I believe He is.
I was raised and still sort of consider myself a Roman Catholic (even though I don’t really like organized religion, Catholicism is a big part of my heritage that I appreciate). I haven’t participated in Lent since I was a kid in Catholic school all of those years ago, but seeing as I’m trying to reform myself into a better person and bring myself closer with God, I think this year I’m going to do it.
So for this Lent, I will be giving up:
- Diet Soda
- Coffee (aughhhhhhh this one will be HARD)
- Alcohol
- Cussing
Aaaaaand I will replace these things with:
- Water
- Giving compliments
- …. And the hardest of them all, my friend suggested that I try to write down one thing I like about myself every day. I’m going to try hard to do that ^ without giving up on it.
… Hopefully I will be able to do this.
